flea market finds ...

I'm playing along with Sophie and lots of others, and sharing my market finds this week. I found some real gems this morning at Camberwell Market - worth getting up early for! This metal butterfly caught my eye under a heap of other stuff ...

I also found a small platter that matches some china I'm collecting. It's called Creampetal by Grindley of England. The bowl was my Nana's, and I found the jug last year at the markets, and today I found the platter - happy days!

I also found a lovely old bottle/jar to put one of my M* hand crochetted and beaded covers (that I got yesterday at the Northside Makers Market), as well as the retro jug in the background.

Here's the other jug cover I bought yesterday - I just love them!

Pop in here to get the lowdown on some great finds (and sources), or to share your market/thrift/op shop finds.

I love how you keep collecting pieces of the Creampetal range. Perhaps your kids and grand-children will carry on collecting as well!

How amazing to find the matching pieces! What luck you have! My Dad was given a box of my Grandmothers things and he found a few bowls in there that he had never seen before that matched a plate he brought at an antique fair last year. What are the chances?! :)

I've got an affinity for those jug covers, they are very tactile. I am sorry, I can't let you into the conspiracy because the best conspiracy is a mystery. (I think that Mel Gibson said something like that in the movie where he carried around Catcher in the Rye)Oh, and thanks for the online mags, they look great xxNick

Great market finds! I recently f=got some old linen of my mum which included some decorative crochet bottle covers, I can't wait to clean them up and put them to use. Great luck about the matching ceramic plate too.

Wow, finding that platter was a blast! I love it when things like that happen. Definitely meant to be.

The jug covers look devine (if I do say so myself). I think you chose two of the best. The blue one is such an amazing colour and the green one matches the green plate beautifully.

Was great seeing you at the market!

Hi Nic
Nice finds! I had to take a break from the flea market/thrift store circuit so it's nice to see what other people bring home. You see my finds are usually about furniture and I have a number of items waiting to be refinished. When I am done with them, I will allow myself go shopping again.BTW, you were one of my top 5 picks from BYW class. You can read about it here:

What fabulous finds! Lucky you! I'd love to stumble across some huge vintage jars in the same vein as your bottle, oooh that would be grand.
Gorgeous green jug cover too. ~ Alisa

Beautiful finds Nic! I really love milk jug covers and those designs are delicious. They were actually one of the first things I ever sold at markets (my grandma crocheted them for me). I use one to cover my glass of water on my bedside table every night - I love the jangle of the beads.

LOVE that metal butterfly - what a great find! Would look great buzzing about out in the garden ...and you can never have too many of those beaded covers - particularly in summer.
