the LIBERTY book of home sewing ~ GIVEAWAY!

Whilst in London, I casually slipped a visit to Liberty into the agenda and picked up this new book ...

It's full of lovely projects and beautiful photography. I loved it so much that I bought an extra one to give away (it is blogtoberfest after all!). Just leave a comment on this post to enter ~ I'd like to know what you love/would love to make out of Liberty print fabric. I love Liberty print fabrics on almost anything, but I do like a quilt with a patchwork of the delicate floral patterns. Red and blue colourways are my favourite, but I don't think I've seen a Liberty fabric I didn't like.

This giveaway is open to everyone! Entries will close Monday 17 October at midnight (AEST). Giveaway now closed - thanks to all those who entered!

Cheers!

P.S. Did you know that there are loads of excellent giveaways as part of blogtoberfest? There is a full list here - enjoy!

Hi there Nic - would love to put my hand up to win this! When I lived in London (MANY years ago now) I used to frequent Liberty to drool over the fabrics and dream of whatI could make, then I'd have tea and scones in the cafe. Sadly, I was a young Aussie traveller and couldn't make room in my backpack for any Liberty - if only I had all those hours in the Liberty store now! The book looks lovely.

trudi@maudeandme said...

Oh I've had the same experience as thornberry! The apron does look very pretty!

Malinda said...

I'm not sure I could ever actually bring myself to cut the fabric :( But the book looks LOVELY. I would probably make myself a simple scarf so that I could have the soft fabric on me and pet it. the one time I went to London, I didn't know ANYTHING about liberty so didn't go - now I wish I had.

Oh my goodness Nic! What an AMAZING giveaway. I would definitely make myself a lovely skirt for summer, and I might even get the nerve to attempt a top!

Oh wow what a generous giveaway! I have a very old dress made from liberty fabric that I adore, I'd love to make another one & maybe even a pretty skirt for the summer time...

Me mme meeeeeeee!!!! I need a good surprise to cheer me up! :D

Wow! What an awesome giveaway. Fantastic. If I had some liberty fabric just now me thinks I'd make a floral summer top... but perhaps if I win that book I'd change my mind.

My overseas travels were pre-craft-addiction, so sadly I didn't have the good sense to visit Liberty. Were we to travel back to London now I would right those wrongs. :)

Christy Franklin said...

Oooooooh that book look ssooo awesome!!!! I'd love to make those delightful aprons in the pictures above. And I could make a sweet little gypsy skirt for my niece!

Wow - looks fabulous! I'm with Christina though, my London days were pre-craft-addiction too so I never visited the Liberty store... and I have no idea what I would make. I'm not an very experienced sewer so I'd look for something simple, perhaps a scarf like Malinda said! Although I'm sure this book would give me some more ideas of something in my skill range!

Jennie said...

That book looks sooo gorgeous!!!
I would probably make a doll, with maybe a fuller skirt than norm. And maybe a cushion too!xx

Kelly Casanova said...

I'm drooling right now. I would love to decorate my bookshelf with this gorgeous liberty book! As well as make a whole mish mash of the fabrics together to cover a chair. How wonderful would that be? Great giveaway!

Entry from Nicole P ~ "Oh, how I would love this book. It's been on my wishlist for ages. I'd make a tunic type dress. Sort of floaty with elbow length sleeves. A bit Charlie and Lola with a Peter Pan collar."

yardage girl said...

Entry from Erica S ~ Oh lovely Liberty! This would have a special place on the coffee table for anyone to admire and to be inspired! I think a simple hoop or other type of frame to hang some pretty Liberty would be first up. Then some pretty camis for summer and some lounge wear! I'm dream'n aren't I!!!

Hmm, tried to leave a comment earlier so if this is a repeat sorry:) Love, love crafty books, so even tho not much room on the book shelf I would be happy to make room for this one! Cyndy

I've refrained from actually buying Liberty fabric so far. It's so pretty to look at and like Malinda I'm not sure I could bring myself to cut into it. Just stashing it would feel wrong. But I guess I'd make a flowy skirt should I ever have the guts. :)

Lola Nova said...

Oh how generous! I was looking at the book the other day and thinking I would put it on my xmas list. I would be thrilled to win it!

My mother introduced me to Liberty when I was just a wee one, we both still love it!

Have lovely weekend!

Nice!! I think I'd make myself a groovy apron - now that I'm a mum .. it probably isn't appropriate that I wear my Eeyore apron & need a more 'mumsy' apron!!

If some Liberty came my way right now, I would make myself the perfect (for me) pair of summer pyjama pants and trim a white singlet to match.

If I had Liberty fabric I would make a summer top and then use the scraps to use as feature panels in small zipped purses. Thank you for the chance to win such a terrific prize.

What a gorgeous looking book- but then what else would you expect from Libert? I love the delicate Liberty patterns and, being a bag maker, would make up purses and small bags with LIberty fabric.

I'd make a shearwater kaftan because I'm on a roll and you can never have too much pattern (although I don't think you'd hear Trinny and Suzannah saying that)!

My mum made me a pair of culottes from a gorgeous liberty floral when I was a child. I remember it was a big deal because the fabric was very expensive. It looks like a gorgeous book and a generous giveaway. I think I'd probably make a skirt or maybe some culottes for my daughter.

I'm not trying to get two entries in your giveaway..I just noticed all my typos;)

From Bronwyn of Whippet Good:
I am in the middle of making a quilt using baby Liberty squares, which I am taking my time over because I love playing with them so much! (Well, that's my excuse anyway lol!)

Caroline said...

I'm going to give you two things! Definitely a long maxi skirt so I can feel the fabric flowing around me when I wear it, and I would love to attempt a bookcover like in one of your pictures...so you see I need to win your giveaway! :)

Thanks for a chance to win that delightful book. If I had some liberty fabric I would make some book covers. I just love the look of fabric covered notebooks, or other things. Gives me a real little buzz of happiness.

Oh what a lovely giveaway. I've spotted this book online, but never looked through it in real. Ooooohhhh I'd love to win!

I have a few little scraps of Liberty fabric, but mostly I'm so scared to cut them up as they are so so pretty and I'm worried that I'll ruin it. Isn't that silly. Maybe having this book would help me overcome that fear. {If I don't win, perhaps I'll treat myself to a copy and some new fabric.}

I'm like so many others who were in London in the pre- craft addiction days and now wish I had that time over again! I would make a floral infinity scraf to take me through the cool spring mornings and evenings! And if I could afford more liberty a pretty floral skirt or top!

Sarah said...

Definetely a quilt so I can enjoy snuggling up with those gorgeous prints of a nighttime. Looks like a beautiful book to add to ones collection.

I'm new to the whole Liberty phenomenon and would like to explore the wonderful world of Liberty a bit more. I would definitely make bloomers for my baby girl for summer. I know I can't think of anything than baby related craft at the moment, but it is so much fun.

Another Wow!!! I just discovered Liberty fabrics last week (i Know a bit slow) - I was amazed and then thought of you - thinking about you saying it was only 2 years ago you registered as a business - then I got thinking about where I could be in 2 years??? Who knows - I tend to whimsically create depending on the fabric or materials I am using... so I can't actually say what I would create - it would come to me at the time! xx Rach - Squiggly Rainbow xx

I love Liberty. It's been quite some time since I've been in the store. I bought a beautiful silk tie for my father when I backpacked as a student. These days, I'd love to make some gorgeous dresses from Liberty fabrics for my two beautiful nieces.
