first quilt of the year ... finished!

I think it's always good to finish a project reasonably close to when you started it ... in this case, just a week or so, which is almost a record for me. To be fair, I think the big squares made it pretty easy!

As I mentioned last week, I needed to sew the binding on to my quilted patchwork of Yardage Design fabrics. Possibly my least favourite job, but worth the effort in the end ~ I think the red really sets the other fabrics off beautifully.

Lots of Yardage Design fabric packs (mixes of three or four designs and colourways) are available in the shop at the moment if you fancy making a quilt like this yourself.
There is also a new SALE section of the shop with discounted and discontinued fabrics and homewares ~ be quick and snag a bargain!

More Thursday creativity here.

bits'n'pieces

It is so relaxing to sit down with my basket of precious fabric scraps and make up some remnant/bits'n'pieces packs for the shop. It was especially fun this time, because I included some Verano pieces in each pack. I love how well the colours, both bold and subtle, work together.

Each pack contains at least one peice of handprinted fabric from the entire Yardage Design range. Each pack is unique, and contains at least 60 grams of fabric, or enough to make a 40cm x 40cm cushion top. These packs don't last, so pop over to the shop and snap yours up for just $10 each.

Happy creating!

isn't she lovely ...

It is so wonderful to see what people make with my fabric ~ it is truly one of the best parts of being a designer. This gorgeous handpainted doll by Jennie of A Little Vintage has been made and dressed using one of my Bits'n'Pieces Fabric Packs. How cute is the faux fur shawl (which is even lined in my agapanthus fabric!) and the boots ... !

I managed to snap this doll up for myself after I saw it on Jennie's blog, but if you ask nicely, you may be able to get something similar. You can see what other clever people have made using my fabric on this page (see tab at the top of this blog).

Have a brilliant week!

bits'n'pieces

I've been playing with my new camera ... I finally got myself a digital SLR, and I'm really enjoying learning to use an SLR again ...

It took me a while to decide, but I eventually chose a Pentax K-r. As my old manual SLR was a Pentax, the lenses, filters and accessories I had could be used on a Pentax digital camera, so in the end I only needed to buy the camera body. I'm very happy with it, and stoked to have another Pentax - this will be my third.

I also managed to get productive last night and package up some more bits'n'pieces fabric packs - these just seem disappear from the shop, so get in quick if you'd like one.

Have a great Tuesday!

stocking up

I've been busy printing over the last week - replenishing sold out items for stockists and the shop. The full range of rainbow vintage tram roll menu tea towels are now back in the shop (the duck egg blue ones sold out in just a few days last time, so get in while they last!)  ...

Also, the bits'n'pieces fabric packs have been very popular and sold out earlier in the week. Last night I raided the remnant basket and made some more - they are only available in the shop here.

Hope your days is a good one!

bits'n'pieces fabric packs

I've had a lovely afternoon going through my fabric offcut basket and making up some bits'n'pieces packs. Each pack has one piece of all current Yardage Design handprinted fabric. Sizes and shapes vary, but each pack has enough fabric to cover a square of approximately 40cm x 40cm - perfect for small crafty projects and patchwork.

Bits'n'pieces Fabric Packs in the shop now. Have a lovely weekend. Don't forget your umbrella if you're in Victoria!
