This week in my creative space, I've been experimenting with making a simple little fabric bag for each of my nieces (ages 9 months and 2). I am seeing them on the weekend (they live in Sydney) when I'll also be visiting the Stitches & Craft Show - double yahoo! Anyway, this is my prototype (made last night) ...
I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, although the embroidery does get a bit lost in this fabric (which I love!). Anyway, on the agenda today is to make another one. It's been lovely to sew again after such a long break during renovations. I'm trying to decide on the fabric to use - maybe the stripe ...?

Cute cute bag, Lovin' the fabric, they will love them for sure.
Bags for kids are a great idea. They have so much "stuff" to put in them. The stripes are cute... so are the little flowers. You could embroider their names on a little piece of plain, matching fabric then sew that on... then the name wouldn't get lost...maybe? Anyway - I'm sure your nieces will love them and their Aunty! Have fun at the show.
Cute little bag!! Have fun at the show in Sydney!
so very "yummy" cupcakes & colors!
I'm loving the stripes and they'll look fab teamed with those gorgeous florals.
I've a small who would love the cupcake bag.
The cupcake fabric is fantastic, I feel a sweet tooth coming on... I'm with Nikki cardigan; embroider name onto plain fabric then attach to bag, or maybe try white cotton? A neutral might stand out more. I love the stripe material, I have eyed that one off for a while, I was going to get some to add to the quilt I am making, but I already think I have too much fabric as it is. Maybe a combo of two of them might look good? Happy sewing.
Fabulous bag. I love the fabrics you've chosen - the stripe would be my favourite too :) K
Bags, bags, bags - best gift ever I say. Just finished one myself for a child's birthday party tomorrow night.
Enjoy Sydney!
That's such a sweet bag. I'm sure they are going to be treasured - kids just adore bags, don't they?
Have loads of fun in Sydney!
Very cute - I have that fabric and made a shirt with some cupcakes appliqued on for my niece. She and her mother always fight about taking it off to be washed. I'm sure your bag will be a hit!
Have a ball in Sydney. I'm very jealous!
Gorgeous bags ~ they will love them.
gorgeous bag, and i love it when kids do their own lugging
That bag is great - I have been asking everyone what to make for some up coming 4 y o girl's birthday's - I think your nieces will love this. Kids love to put their 'stuff' in bags and cart it about. Love the choice of fabric too. Peta
