blueberry-lemon buttermilk cake

I made this cake this afternoon ...


I got the recipe from Smitten Kitchen, but as I didn't have any fresh berries, I substituted a can of blueberries. I also didn't have any buttermilk, but the recipe includes how to make your own with milk and lemon juice or vinegar. It was very, very light and fluffy and delish! Perfect for a lazy Sunday afternoon. Farewell weekend ...

Yum! That's one of my favorite flavor combinations. Blueberry season just ended here and we finally managed to go pick some, so I have a big bag in the fridge. I was going to freeze the leftover berries, but I think this cake is just the thing!
