natural design ...

I bought these at the green grocer this morning - I love the shape, texture and colours ...

The sign on the bucket said "Hakea Peach", but I can't find any references for that name anywhere. Perhaps some more plant savvy readers can help? I'm going to try and find the time this week to have a play around with some designs, using these beautiful shapes as a spring-board.

I think this may be the fruit from a Hakea shrub, there are over 100 species in Australia. It belongs to the same family as the Banksia and the Waratah. Hope this helps.

Looks like one of the Hakeas to me - it's absolutely beautiful! Can't wait to see what you come up with when sketching it out!

I am such a city slicker. And that Hakea-whatsit-doovy-thing looks like inspiration with bells on.

Looks like a fab design in the making! I would have no idea what plant it is though :)
