my creative space ... test patterns

This week has been all about testing some of my fabric design sketches (which has been fun, exciting and a tiny bit daunting, all at the same time!).

As a result, I've been spending some time working on the laptop, making the designs digital. I used some fabric (linen) computer paper to print them out on. I find this handy to get a "feel" for the design, although the colours translate pretty poorly from the screen to the fabric.

Here are a few ideas I'm playing with (feedback welcome) - I'm a bit into circles and lines at the moment ...

I also ordered some screenprinting equipment this week, so I will be able to start printing on the kitchen table soon - looking forward to that!

Thanks for stopping by!

Thursday's are my favourite day in blogland ... for more inspirational and interesting creative spaces, or to join in the fun, head over to Kootoyoo.

How clever are you Nic, designing and printing your own fabric... The circles and lines are great. I especially love the first one.

Very clever indeed! I started doing some printing with photo emulsion screens earlier in the year, but I haven't had time to get back to it... it is a lot of fun though! I especially love the third design... it has such a simple, retro feel! Beautiful!

I really love the first one. I like the colors and the design.

They are all great designs - clean, simple, a bit geometric and pretty all at once! The middle would have to be my favourite, but then again I have a bit of a thing for typography.

Oh, I'm a sucker for a bit of text action, and the circle-line thing is great too. Well done, looking spiffy.

Awesome look to your designs. As soon as I saw your blog I knew it was one I would love, you just have to mention fabric and screen printing and Im there. Neither of which I am an expert at, just an appreciative admirer of people who are. Cheers!
