After dragging an overtired, overstimulated and chocolate filled child around the arts and crafts pavilion at the Royal Melbourne Show yesterday, I was disappointed to find, well ... so little craft.
There were the usual quilts (which were lovely) and some cabinets of a variety of hand crafts etc, but not much else. Liesl from Hoppo Bumpo entered some scones in the cooking section (she didn't win - totally robbed!), and mentioned that some of the sewing categories did not receive one entry.
Anyway, I've decided it's on my "to do" list for next year. There is a real opportunity for some blogger/indie sewing and crafting to make it's presence felt at the show and rev things up a bit! Whadda-ya-reckon?
It would be cool to make it into the coveted "Cabinet of Excellence" (yes, that's its actual name!) in 2010 ...
Aside from that, we had a wonderful morning - we went to the animal nursery twice, rode on the miniature trains many times, rode on the lovely old carousel, went up in the the huge ferris wheel thingy (I was trying to remain brave, all the while being very scared of heights!), cuddled with Elmo, and danced with Max and Milly. It was a dream day for a toddler, and not bad for mum too!
Have a great Friday!

What a great idea - I think the show needs some new and funky craft!
