market find!

After eating our weight in chocolate for breakfast, we all staggered down to the Sunday Market at Camberwell for a squizz. I've been going almost every week for the last month or so, searching for special things that I can use to display my wares at the looming Melbourne Stitches and Craft Show. Today was a good day - I found this gorgeous vintage sewing box ...

It needs a bit of TLC, but it is well made out of oak, with brass hardware - a nice bit of oil will bring it up a treat. I plan to reupholster the lid/seat and inside with my own fabric - I cant' wait to see how it looks!

I hope you've managed to score some great stuff this week too, like these people have! Happy Easter, and enjoy the rest of your day!

Wow, that's gorgeous! What a find, it looks great as is, but I can't wait to see what you do to it. I especially love the little drawer at the bottom.

Oh, I'm in love!!! But can we talk about the tapestry? Please, please do something wonderful with it, or give it to me, if you recover that gorgeous chair.

Now if you need any vintage ladders for displaying things, I scored two sweet ones on Ebay recently and am happy to talk about a loan for S&C. They'd be great for displaying tea towels methinks.

Fantastic find - I wonder if that is its original fabric lid - it doesn't look like the same vintage as the interior? Neat that it has a mirror too! Lucky you!

isn't it lovely? what do you suppose it's original use was for? sewing?
I'm sure you will put your style into it and it will come up a dream.
I found something I've been wanting a while this weekend too - an old school desk with the ink wells, etc.
Have a great day.

OMG that's a Star Wars drawing inside. My husband and I tried to have a good look at on your pic. It looks like a personal drawing, gee I would love to know how it got there. Both my husband and I are big Star Wars and science fiction fans. If you can save the drawing maybe frame it and give it to a young boy. Just a thought.
