my creative space :: printing

This morning I've been testing out my new Fan design in white (on natural linen/cotton) ...

Yesterday, I printed this design in red for a custom order, but, judging from the response I got on instagram and facebook, I think I will print a few more for the shop because it goes beautifully with the blue version of this design I have already printed.

I know some people don't love the white on natural as much as I do, but one of the best parts of working for yourself is pleasing yourself (excuse the indulgence)! The test fabric is drying at the moment, but I will post a pic to instagram (@yardagedesign) and facebook later today and you can let me know what you think!

my creative space :: blue and red

Blue and red are just such a lovely couple of colours, don't you think? My creative space is full of both of them at the moment. This is what's on my table right now, ready and waiting to be sewn (except for the wooden exclamation mark, which is just there because it was on another part of my table and I couldn't resist) ...

I've also been updating the way I package my fabric with some new swing tags that are pretty (and red) and functional (they have care instructions on the back). Incase you're interested, I get almost all of my cards, postcards and stickers from moo. My new "Fan" fabric is available here on both off white hemp/organic cotton (picture above) or natural linen/cotton (picture below).

So if you need me, I'll be the one sewing all day ~ can. not. wait. !!

Catch up on what everyone else is up to (creativity speaking) here and on instagram at #mycreativespace.

new fabric design :: fan

Introducing my newest fabric design ~ Fan ...

Inspired by a vintage Indian block stamp I've had for a while, I created my own motif (with some Spanish influence) using the fan design as a basis. The motif is small (2cm tall, 3cm wide) which I think makes it perfect for adding some handprinted loveliness to smaller projects.

"Fan" :: Ocean Blue on natural Linen/Cotton
I'm printing this design myself, as individual fat quarters (quite large ones at that ~ 50cm x 70cm). The design is printed in Ocean Blue ink on either natural linen/cotton or off-white hemp/organic cotton.

"Fan" :: Ocean Blue on Off-white Hemp/Organic Cotton
Continuous yardage (or fat quarters) of this design may be available ~ email me if you're interested. In the mean time, fat quarters are available in the shop now.

Have a great weekend!

new design :: succulent flowers

Gosh, it's been a while since I've released a new design! After lots of sneaky peeks on instagram and facebook, I'm pleased to be able to officially launch my Succulent Flowers design, handprinted onto beautiful 100% linen tea towels ....

This design came from my own sketches of beautiful succulent (sempervivum) flowers in my garden ~ you may have noticed some photo's of these in previous blog posts.

I have chosen a distinctly spring colour palette for this design ~ Ocean Blue on off white and natural/unbleached linen; Sunny Yellow on off white linen; and, Pea Green on natural/unbleached linen.

This design and colourways are now available in the Yardage Design online shop. In addition, there is FREE POSTAGE for all tea towel purchases (including this new design) for the next week (Australian customers only).

Have a great weekend!

(over) printing :: just for me

Isn't it fantastic when a couple of hours to yourself comes your way when you're not expecting it? Bonus time! It happened to me on Sunday afternoon, so I decided to print something for myself. This was an idea I've had for months ~ infact, I bought this beautifully light, cotton, blue and white scarf in Spain in March with the intention of printing it then ...

At the start of the year, I had a small screen made with a few different sizes of my circa design (which is also my logo). It was just for me ~ pure indulgence.

Printing over one print/design with an other was my goal. I printed my Circa circles randomly over the scarf. I like it, and I know I will wear it. Double bonus!

In other news, I will be picking up some screens today with some NEW DESIGNS on them. I cannot wait! Hoping to share them with you over the weekend ~ stay tuned for some sneaky peeks!

More creativity here each Thursday.
