my creative space ... printing and sewing

This week, I finished printing the layers on my experimental tea towel ...

I think it looks OK if you stand about 2 metres away from it and squint your eyes! Basically, the flowers are not ideally positioned and are a bit out of proportion to each other, BUT it does give me an idea for printing some fabric by the metre ... scatttered multi-sized artichoke flowers? ... I might have a play on the computer this weekend.

Some of you might also remember the artichoke I embroidered using my sewing machine last year. Well, I finally did something with it - I made a little pin cushion for the studio ...

I hope your space is creative this week too. Have a look at some other spaces, or join in, by clicking here and saying hello to Kirsty at Kootoyoo!

I really like how the artichokes take up most of the blank space on the tea towel.
Looks like you've been hard at work!

I guess it's normal for us (the creator) to be bit hard on ourself sometime. But they all looking good in my eyes! It is definitely something different compare to the others I would say. Keep up the good work, Nic! :)

The artichoke pin cushion looks great, almost too sweet to poke pins into.

Your pin cushion is just fabulous Nic! I know what you mean about the tea towel but it is still a very stunning pattern. Metered fabric sounds fun :) K

Don't stop there - the fabric by the metre is an artichoke excellent notion!

I like them both equally, I love the way on the tea towel the colours overlap a little

The only way I'm ever be able to figure out what works is by experimenting too... does trying to figure things out on the computer work for you? I guess it'd be the less costly option! But not half as fun.

The pin cushion is gorgeous, so pleasingly plump. Look forward to more machine embroidery at some point...

I like the tea towel.. I do! I think it's pretty & kooky.. a sign of who made it, perhaps...?! ;)

Love it! The pincushion is gorgeous too. Not sure that I could stick pins in it.

Somebody else said kaleidoscopic - I think so too, when I squint the artichokes look like big faceted jewels - like bling towels, not tea towels. I like it very much. I think it would look great on by the metre fabric.

I do love a good artichoke. There is something about them. The colour, the layers, that chunky stem. Great idea. I'm sure they too will be "all the rage" ;)

I think your artichokes are lovely. They look a little like a fractal picture... It took me a while to realise what they were. I guess I was looking at the "whole" rather than the individuals... ;) Cute pincushion and thanks for the visit.

I like the layering in the print; it would be fabulous in fabric by the meter. That little pin cushion is super adorable- but it has a couple of problems. You won’t be able to pin into the artichoke area because it’s way too cute AND you will have to source all matching red pins so it is always looking its best!!!!

The two colours work well Nic. You must be getting desperate to have a go at that metre printing.

Pin cushion = gorgeous.
